The Department of Minority Welfare, Government of Kerala has designed the Joseph Mundassery Scholarship for students residing in Kerala and belonging to minority communities. The Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship 2023 (PJMS) Award is only accessible to students pursuing SSLC / Plus Two / UG / PG courses. The online application for Joseph Mundassery Scholarship for the session 2023-24 started on 25 November 2023. Eligible students can apply for the scholarship on the portal https://minoritywelfare.kerala.gov.in before 18th December 2023.

Joseph Mundassery Scholarship 2023-24

A new scholarship is being given by Department of Minority Welfare scholarship to underprivileged students so that they can carry forward their academics without any financial constraints. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship 2023-24 is applicable to residents of Kerala. It is for backward community esp. who belong from Sikh, Buddhism, Muslim, Jain, Parsi, etc. Students who are at their SSCL level or pursuing Vocational Higher Secondary Examination,  plus two, and have scored A+ grade can apply for this scholarship. The student shall belong to Below Poverty Line and should have an overall family income of Rs. 8,00,000 per year. The eligible students will receive an amount of Rs 10,000/– and the eligibility criteria is completely on the basis of merit and family income. The applicant must have a nationalized bank account.

This programme is named after Joseph Mundassery who is the Education Minister of Kerala. He advocated education as the basic right for children and helped to improve the literacy rate of Kerala. This scholarship is specific to students who hails from Kerala. Steps to follow:

  • Step 1

    Applicants visit DMW Scholarship Portal or access the Link minoritywelfare.kerala.gov.in.

  • Step 2

    Select “Professor Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award(PJMS)” under Scholarship Type, then click the Apply Now button.

  • Step 3

    To register, Provide the following information on the registration page: Proceed with the registration process by providing the following information.

    Provide details of SSLC or equivalent examination like Board of Examination, Roll Number and Year of passing, etc.

  • Step 5

    Enter applicant’s bio data such as Name, Date of Birth, Father/Mother/Guardian’s name, Occupation, etc.

  • Step 6

    Provide Permanent address like House number, Locality, Town/Village, District, Pin Code, Mobile No, and EMAIL ID, etc.

  • Step 7

    Enter previous institution and course details such as Institution Type (SSLC/VHSC/Higher Secondary), Course/Main, College/institution Name, Passing year, etc.

  • Step 8

    Enter bank details like Bank/Branch name, Account number, Payee name, etc.

  • Step 9

    Upload the relevant scanned documents. Check the required file size and stick to that. Or else it won’t be accepted.

  • Step 10

    Create a UserID and password, also note the password for further reference.

  • Step 11

    Review all the information, tick on the declaration, enter the captcha code, and click “submit” button so as to submit the application form.

Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Amount

Through this scholarship, the meritorious students are to be recognized and awarded. Therefore, different amount is given to different levels of students depending on their needs and necessities to carry out their education. The amount that will be given to different categories are:

  • SSLC students with A+ grades in all subjects will get a scholarship amount of Rs.10,000.
  • UG-level students with an academic score of 80% and above will get a scholarship of Rs.15,000.
  • PG-level students with an academic score of 75% and above will get a scholarship of Rs.15,000.

Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Eligibility 2023-24

  • The applicant should be a resident of Kerala. Other state students are not allowed.
  • They should belong from Below Poverty Line(BPL).
  • The family income of the applicant should be less than Rs. 8,00,000 from all sources.
  • The applicant must have their own bank account.
  • The applicant must belong to minority community such as Christian, Muslim, Buddhism, Jains, etc.
  • The candidate must be studying in a insitutute that is recognized by Indian government.
