Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme For CAPFs & AR 2023-24

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for personnel of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles (CAPFs and ARs) has been launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Started in 2006, the scheme is funded annually by the National Defence Fund (NDF). PMSS Scholarship for CAPFs & AR is applicable only for students who are Dependents/Wards of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles personnel. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have a minimum of 60% marks in MEQ i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation.

The online application for the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS CAPF & AR) for the academic year 2023-24 has started from 1st October 2023. To apply, students must access the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and complete the scholarship application form by January 31, 2024 (extended). The scholarship amount is Rs. 30,000 for boys and Rs. 36,000 for girls and the students are paid annually after selection. Once selected, students can renew their scholarship every year until the completion of their course.

PMSS (Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme) introduced scholarship program to support students who pursue technical & professional education. Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme has been introduced in 2006-2007. Under this scheme, students get support financially. This scheme is especially made for the dependent wards & widows of CAPFs & AR (Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles) personnel. Further, this scheme has extended its helping hand to dependent wards of States/UTs Police Personnel who are martyred during Terror/Naxal attacks from 2019-2020. The scholarship amount released by NDF (National Defense Fund) is administered by Prime Minister’s Office.

Eligibility criteria for Pmss Scholarship Scheme For CAPFs & AR 2023-24

Here, we explain who can apply for Prime Minister’s Scholarship scheme. This scheme is especially made for the dependent wards & widows of CAPFs & AR and dependent wards of States/UTs Police Personnel who are martyred during Terror/Naxal attacks. The eligibility criteria’s for CAPFs & AR are:

  • Wards/widows of retired and serving CAPFs & AR Personnel. (below Officer Rank)
  • Taken admission in 1st year degree.
  • Having minimum 60% marks in MEQ (Minimum Entry Qualification) i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of new applicant.
  • Student applying under renewal category, it is compulsory to pass with 50% marks each subsequent academic year.
  • In cases of delay on the part of the candidate in submitting the application for renewal of scholarship, a grace period of one year will be given to those candidates.

Steps to Register for Prime Minister’s Scholarship for CAPFs & AR

Application must be filled by visiting official website http://www.scholarship.gov.in, only online applications will be considered. Candidates cannot apply offline i.e. through hard copy for this scholarship. Following are the steps to be followed to register for PMSS.

  • Go to the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) 2.0.
  • You must register before accessing the application form, so click on New Registration.
  • Read the instructions, accept the terms & conditions, then click on the Continue button.
  • Enter your mobile number, Aadhaar number and verify the OTP.
  • Then enter the Scholarship Type, Scholarship Category, Father’s/mother’s name, and State of Domicile.
  • Finally, click on the Register button.

Steps to Login and Apply for PMSS Scholarship for CAPFs & AR

Steps to follow:

  • Step 1

    Open the website https://scholarships.gov.in, in a browser.

  • Step 2

    Click on the Fresh application on the home page.

  • Step 3

    Enter your application ID, and password, then click on login button.

  • Step 4

    Enter your General Information, Academic Information, and other details, then click on Save and Continue button.

  • Step 5

    In the Scheme Details, select Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS).

  • Step 6

    Upload the required documents (listed below).

  • Step 7

    Verify all the information, then click on the Final Submit button.

Renewal Application

For renewal of application follow these steps.

  • Step 1: Visit National Scholarship Portal 2.0.
  • Step 2: Under the applicant corner, click to submit the application for AY 2023-24 Renewal Application.
  • Step 3: Login with Username, Password, and Captcha.
  • Step 4: Click on Renew Application on the dashboard.
  • Step 5: Proceed as per page requirement. Update Aadhaar details and current academic details.
  • Step 6: Upload bonafide certificates and income certificates.
  • Step 7: Click on Submit button.

Prime Minister’s Scholarship for CAPFs & AR Amount

  • For girls rupees 36000/- annually (i.e., 3000/- per month will be paid only after selection).
  • For boys rupees 30000/- annually (i.e. 2500/- per month will be paid only after selection).

Payment of Scholarship

The amount of scholarship under Prime Minister’s Scholarship (PMSS) 2023-24 would be transferred directly through Public Finance Management System (PFMS) to the National Bank accounts of the selected applicants. This will be done under the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

  • ESM / Ex Coast Guard certificate as per Annexure-1.
  • Bonafide Certificate as per Annexure-2 is signed by Vice Chancellor/ Principal/Vice Principal/Dean/Associate Dean/Registrar/Dy Registrar/Director/Dy Director of the College / Institute.
  • Aadhaar Card of student must be linked with his/her bank account and must take certificate from the bank saying Aadhaar number has been linked to their respective account as per Annexure-3.
  • Matriculation certificate for verifying the Date of Birth (DOB).
  • MEQ certificate as applicable (12th / Graduation / Diploma
